1. Overview
LocalCap does not collect or transmit your personal information, videos, audio, captions, projects, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics to LocalCap or its developer. LocalCap does not sell or share personal information and does not track you across apps or websites.
There is no LocalCap account, advertising system, analytics SDK, or developer-operated backend in version 1.0.
2. Videos, audio, and captions
Imported or recorded video, extracted audio, speech-recognition results, caption timings, edits, styles, clip order, and review decisions are processed on your iPhone. LocalCap does not upload this content to us.
LocalCap creates working copies of source videos inside its private app storage so saved projects can reopen. Temporary transcription audio is removed after a completed transcription pass. When you export or use the iOS share sheet, the destination you choose receives the file and its own privacy terms apply. If iCloud Photos is enabled, Apple may sync a saved export according to your device settings.
3. Permissions
LocalCap asks only for permissions needed for features you choose:
- Photos: select videos and save completed exports.
- Camera: record a clip inside LocalCap.
- Microphone: record audio with that clip.
- Speech Recognition: generate captions on device.
You can change these permissions at any time in iPhone Settings. Turning one off may make the related feature unavailable.
4. Apple services
Speech models
Apple may download a language model before that language can be used offline. This is a system-managed download from Apple; LocalCap does not receive your video, audio, or transcript from it.
Purchases
The LocalCap Pro Monthly subscription, LocalCap Pro Lifetime one-time purchase, and Restore Purchases use Apple's StoreKit and App Store services. Apple processes payment details and the Apple Account relationship. StoreKit provides the app with transaction and entitlement status needed to verify paid access. LocalCap does not receive or store your card number or Apple Account credentials. LocalCap relies on Apple's signed StoreKit entitlement history rather than maintaining a separate payment profile or LocalCap account.
5. Local storage, retention, and deletion
Saved projects, captions, preferences, and app-managed working videos are retained locally so you can reopen and edit them. LocalCap removes a working video only when no remaining project needs that file. A Delete All Local Data action removes LocalCap projects, caption preferences, app-managed media, and LocalCap-owned temporary exports from the device without deleting copies you previously exported to Photos, Files, or another app. Deleting local project data does not cancel a subscription or remove a lifetime purchase. Apple continues to manage the paid entitlement, and LocalCap rechecks StoreKit to recognize active Monthly or Lifetime Pro access.
Large app-managed working video copies are marked so Apple does not back them up. Depending on your Apple device-backup settings, smaller project records and preferences may be included in an Apple-managed encrypted device or iCloud backup.
Deleting LocalCap from the iPhone also removes its app-managed data. Copies you exported remain wherever you chose to save or share them.
6. This website
This site does not use advertising, analytics, account systems, contact forms, or optional tracking cookies. Hosting and network providers may process basic request information, such as an IP address and security logs, as needed to deliver and protect the site. LocalCap does not use that information to profile visitors.
If you voluntarily email support, the message and return address are used only to understand and respond to your request. Please do not send private footage unless support specifically requests it and you choose to do so. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request and maintain necessary business records. You may ask for a support conversation to be deleted through the published support address, subject to legal retention requirements.
7. Children's privacy
LocalCap is a general-purpose creative tool and is not directed to children under 13. LocalCap does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other user.
8. Changes and contact
If LocalCap's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before the change is released. The effective date at the top shows the current policy version.
Questions about privacy can be sent through the contact method on the LocalCap Support page.
